AS IS is not good enough®
Every piece of Danish Mid-Century Modern furniture we sell has been cleaned, tightened, oiled, and restored — because we believe that exceptional design deserves exceptional care.
We clean the wood frames and seats
After anywhere between 30 to even 65 years, they must be cleaned.
We lightly dry or wet sand most of the time teak wood, often three or more times to achieve the desired smoothness.
We remove all old fabrics
Fabrics might look fine, even feel good — but they just have to go.
As soon as we receive fabric-covered items, we remove all the old upholstery. Every seat and back gets fresh foam and new material — no exceptions.
We oil the teak surfaces — thoroughly
Oiling means hand-rubbing with soft cotton rags soaked in teak oil, again and again, all over every surface. Then dry cotton rags to polish. That is one time.
Then the second time. Then the third time. Very often, the fourth time. The result is a surface that looks and feels like the day it left the workshop in Denmark.
We tighten every joint
We always use Gorilla Glue to make loose joints tight again. We always clean up the old glue first to ensure a close fit. The restored joints show no glue run-offs — just solid, silent strength that will last another 50 years.
Because made well deserves to last.
Danish Mid-Century Modern furniture was built to endure. With proper care, a set of chairs from the 1960s will outlast us all. We restore thoughtfully — not to change the story, but to let it keep being told.
